Back in 2011/12 I started a documentary project of people walking their dogs in the local glen. It was very successful with much laughter with both the owners and the dogs, and also somewhat challenging at times. i.e.. dogs co-operating, but nothing a treat couldn’t fix. I had not long moved to West Kilbride, frequently walking my own dog Dora in the glen, and with my drive and passion to document most things in my life, led me to this wonderful portraiture project of both the owners and their beloved pooches. This project could be extended and go on for sometime, maybe I’ll come back to it at a later date.
Next week at Gallery Sometimes in West Kilbride I will be exhibiting this project. Although shot some time ago, some of these people and their dogs are still around the village and it feels relevant to show them today hoping to add a bit of cheer to the sombre mood back dropping our environment these days. Come along there will be other artists also on show.
